Boone

We decided to take a trip to Boone in November. Appalachian State is a school that Blake has been interested in but has never been there. We were also hoping to do some hiking and see some Fall color.

The colors in the mountains were not as spectacular this year but they were still pretty amazing.

We rented a cabin on a mountain and took the dogs with us. They were so excited in the cooler mountain air. It even snowed a little bit but didn’t stick.

I took the dogs out walking through the woods and Andy and Blake did a tour of App State.

I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty freaking awesome to be able to do these weekend trips to the coast or to the mountains.

These two even braved the hot tub even though it was freezing out.

The next day Andy and I went hiking.

My cute boys

The views were amazing. There are so many great trails in Boone. We took a short easy one since we had the dogs and were not sure about the terrain as it had recently rained. It was perfect.

The next morning we went out to get bagels for the family. Downtown Boone is pretty cool.

Spending time with my kiddos and doing these little trips are my fave thing. Yesterday I read an article about a woman that was talking about the support she always got from her parents no matter what her choices were, even if they were different than what they would have picked. She said her mom had recently sent her a necklace that said “I love you for always in all ways”. I told Cole about it and how I hope he (and his siblings) always realize that I want my kids to be their own people and just be happy. They can have their own opinions and I won’t try to change them. I will never make them feel uncomfortable for their opinions, my love for them is absolutely unconditional and I will try to always remind them of that.

Except if they have cats instead of dogs, that is where I draw the line 🙂 Just kidding.
