Film Makers

My boys have gotten so into making movies lately.

And they usually involve lots of weapons and such.  Don’t judge.

I too started off as a no gun mom, not even squirt guns.  For those of you that can stick to that policy as your boys grow up, more power to you.  My boys simply made guns out of legos, tinker toys, and even when desperate their lunch (pita bread).

So eventually we relaxed our policy, which is a good thing seeing that all of their friends play with them too.  Especially Cole’s friends.  We are well stocked on Nerf guns these days, and yes they shoot each other.  In fact Cole’s friends often shoot me too.  I’ve learned to have fast reflexes.

I guess we all have our limits.  We don’t harm animals (with hunting or sling shots) but allow them to shoot foam bullets at each other.  Every family is different.

20100708-IMG_9859 I love it when all the boys play together.  It doesn’t happen very often.  And the latest movie isn’t set at my house, it’s set at one of Austin’s friends houses, but it started here.

Proof that I exist

And the shot that made me happy I made the effort to pull the camera out

We had the same gun rule too, but it failed. He made guns out of everything, sticks, his own hand. Like you we have the same rules, no animals, and no hurting people. It seems to work.

It is so nice to see children using their imaginations! I love it. The last shot of Cole is wonderful! I love the last one of Austin, too. You will cherish these. Poor Eva, she wants to be in the movie. I have girls so we never really had the gun issue. My mom tells how she was not going to allow guns when my older brother was born. This was over 50 years ago. She lost the battle when he would find sticks and all the neighborhood boys had toy guns. He grew up to be a respectable man. 🙂

I lost the battle of the “no” gun rule when I saw my 3 year old making them out of the finger nail clippers. We have the same rules. No judgement from me!
