our house

Demo!

When we bought our house almost 8 years ago the master bath and bedroom looked like this (I took this picture the day we went to look at the house- see the back of that little person in the mirror with the reflector boots- that’s Blake)

One word- PINK! Everything was pink. Pink walls, pink carpet, pink drapes. Pink.

We ripped out the carpet, painted the walls, took down the drapes.

But eventually we added on a new master bedroom and Austin got this old one. We walled off part of the room so the bathroom is now in the hallway and the closet became part of a laundry room. There is another closet in the room- it’s a huge room.

This is how it looks now

Ok- so the bathroom never got remodeled- and because it is original to the house it is in bad shape. In fact the shower started recently leaking into the kitchen below.

we did a few minor changes- painted the cabinet black, got a new mirror and new lights

But it’s still gross

  1. Love how they kept the TP for you! We gutted both our bathrooms upon buying our home 5 years ago. Total pain, and totally worth it!

  2. This sounds like what is going on at my house right now. I always manage to add more chaos during a chaotic time 🙂 We are re-modeling our daughter’s bedroom. We live in a 200+ year old farmhouse and plaster layered with wallpaper was really getting to me. We even band-aided it by painting over the wall paper – now she’s going to have a brand spanking new bedroom. It’s hard to excite a 14-year old but this is working – Hooray! One of the coolest parts about her bedroom though…..my grandmother was born in it! Every bit of pain we go through, as we restore this house we love so much, is worth it!! Can’t wait to see your new bathroom!

  3. You guys must be excited to have this project finished…you are brave to do this right now! We uprooted our family this year from our home in CO to FL and the projects we have tackled in our new home can be daunting!
I hope it goes quick and easy! Happy Holidays to you!

  4. See now I’m excited. I love construction and remodeling. I want to just start ripping out walls and putting up new ones just to do it!

I love the style of your house 🙂
